On October 11, 2022 at approximately 11:48 P.M., Officer Jacob Arellano #11729 was traveling along Spur 408 heading to detail. While traveling, Officer Arellano was struck by a wrong way drunk driver, resulting in a serious vehicle crash into additional heavy utility vehicles. Both officers and Dallas Fire & Rescue arrived on scene and transported Officer Arellano to the local hospital.

 

Officer Arellano underwent multiple surgeries and procedures in an attempt to overcome the severity of the crash. Unfortunately, medical professionals and staff were unable to revive Officer Arellano the next morning.

 

Officer Arellano served with the Dallas Police Department for 3 years at the Northwest Division.

 

His brother, Officer Josh Arellano serves proudly today with the Dallas Police Department and imparts wisdom to others about the severity of drunk driving.
