On November 4, 2022 at approximately 2:45 A.M., Officer Ismael Alvarez #12219 was traveling home following his shift when he was struck by an oncoming drunk driver in Southwest Dallas. The severity of the crash resulted in several months of physical rehabilitation, cognitive counseling and multiple surgeries.

 

In spite of additional medical procedures and physical limitations, Officer Alvarez continued to overcome the obstacles ahead of his path, specifically motivated by the tragic passing of fellow Officer Jacob Arellano 3 weeks prior.

 

Today, Officer Alvarez is steadily recovering and continues to perform physical rehabilitation while returning to work. Additionally, Officer Alvarez volunteers for ATO to assist other law enforcement officers and firefighters in need of support.

 

Officer Alvarez has been with the Dallas Police Department for 2 years.
